For her first song, Sanchez sang Carey’s “My All” which was the judges’ choice for her. Her rendition had judge Randy Jackson proclaiming, “Absolutely beautiful! The perfectly right song for you!”

Judge Jennifer Lopez echoed Jackson’s comment saying, “A hard song! But you did it so beautifully…you didn’t even go to the big part at the end and I love that.”

Sanchez also received praises for her second song which she chose herself. It was Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing.”

Judge Steven Tyler, lead vocalist of Aerosmith, said she made the song “greater.”

“You do not know what a big deal that is…that note at the end sent everyone into the heavens,” J.Lo said.

The third song Sanchez performed was “I’ll Be There” by Michael Jackson, which was selected by “AI” mentor Jimmy Iovine. The performance both got nods from Tyler and Lopez but failed to impress Jackson.

Tyler called it “delicious” while Lopez told Jessica she “almost sounded like Michael!” But Randy shrugged, “I liked it okay. I didn’t love it.”

Tomorrow’s episode will determine who will be facing off in the Finale. Will Sanchez make it to the ‘final two’ of this year’s American Idol Season 11?

An annular solar eclipse, also known as a “Ring of Fire” eclipse, is set to occur on May 20, 2012.

If you’re wondering what time the rare eclipse will start, reports say it will be at 20:56 UTC and will end at 02:49 UTC on May 21.

However, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), it will be visible only within a 240-300 kilometer-wide track that traverses eastern Asia, the northern Pacific Ocean and the western United States. It will start in eastern Asia -  in southern China, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan- and will then move eastward across the Pacific before entering the California-Oregon area. The Moon’s shadow passes in the late afternoon over Nevada, Utah, Arizona, a corner of Colorado, New Mexico, and the annular eclipse ends at sunset in Texas.

A partial eclipse will also be visible in the following areas: most of eastern China, the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Siberia, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico and much of the United States except for the eastern seaboard, NASA says.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring the image of the Sun as viewed from the Earth. An annular solar eclipse happens when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun, resulting to the so-called “ring of fire.”

The phenomenon is said to occur rarely. The last recorded annular eclipse in the United States was on May 10, 1994 and the next one is projected to occur in October 2023.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has married his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan on Saturday, May 19.

The Mark Zuckerberg-Priscilla Chan wedding ceremony took place at Zuckerberg’s backyard in Palo Alto, Calif. and was witnessed by less than 100 individuals, who thought they were there to celebrate Chan’s graduation from medical school.

Both Zuckerberg and Chan updated their Facebook timeline on Saturday with a wedding picture and a status that says they are “married” to each other.

Mr, Zuckerberg, 28, has been dating Ms. Chan, 27, since 2003. They met while attending college at Harvard University.

Desmond Hatchett, who has 30 kids with 11 women, is asking the state of Tennessee for help in paying for child support. Hatchett cited the fact that he earns minimum wage.

Under the law, the state is only allowed to claim a maximum of 50 percent of a person’s salary for child support. Splitting half of Hatchett’s minimum wage earnings 30 ways means that some of his kids only end up with $ 1.49 a month.

Constitutionally, there is nothing the state can do to limit him from having more.

“I had four kids in the same year. Twice.” Desmond Hatchett told Volunteer TV.

Hatchett made national news in 2009 for having fathered 21 kids at the age of 29. That means that he had 9 more children in the last 3 years!

The oldest of his kids is now 14 years old while the youngest is a toddler. Hatchett claims he knows all his kids’ birthdays and names.

Mico Banayo, a victim of vitriolage or acid attack, has went public to raise funds for his surgeries.

Despite fears for his family’s security, the 25-year-old student decided to share his story on Facebook and on GMA-7′s “Wish Ko Lang” since his family is having a hard time paying for the said surgeries.

Banayo needs an eyelid surgery on his right eye to avoid further infection and to save his eyesight; a corneal transplant and cataract and glaucoma treatment on his left eye in the hopes of regaining his eyesight; and laser treatment on his face, chest, and other parts of his body due to 2nd- and 3rd-degree burns.

On March 15 this year, an unidentified man, who introduced himself as a messenger of a courier company, came to Banayo at the latter’s boarding house in Paranaque City with a letter. As he was signing for the letter, the man reportedly poured a bottle filled with acid on his face. He was rushed to Olivarez Hospital where he received initial treatment for his injuries.

Mico Banayo, the president of his school’s student government in 2010, was to graduate this year. His story will be featured on “Wish Ko Lang” later today.

Facebook started trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market around 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday with the symbol “FB”.

Facebook’s opening trade was 30 minutes delayed as traders experienced problems with changing and canceling orders they had submitted to the Nasdaq, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to Mashable, Facebook opened with $ 42 a share, bringing its valuation to $ 116.6 billion.

Facebook’s trading volume exceeded 100 million shares in the first three minutes of the stock’s trading, the Journal said.

A Bloomerg report said that there were bids for the stock at 58.20 EUR in Germany, which is $ 74/share, before Facebook opened on Nasdaq.

Facebook IPO was originally priced at $ 38 per share, raising $ 16 billion in a landmark initial public offering that values the company at more than $ 100 billion.

Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers will be arriving in the Philippines next week for a series of shows at Ayala Malls.

Joe Jonas will kick off his shows at Trinoma and Greenbelt on May 25, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively. He will then be at Alabang Town Center at 7 p.m. the next day and at Ayala Center Cebu on May 27. at 3:00 p.m.

The Jonas Brothers, composed of Joe and his brothers Nick and Kevin, made their acting debut in season 2 of the hit Disney Channel Original Series, “Hannah Montana.” They then starred in their own show in Disney Channel entitled, “Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream” and in Disney movie “Camp Rock” and its sequel “Camp Rock 2.” The group has also released four studio albums in total.

The band’s lead vocalist, Joe Jonas also handles keyboard, guitar, and percussion.

Donna Summer died on Thursday, May 17, after a battle with lung cancer. Summer was 63.

In a statement, Summer’s family said, “While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.”

“Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time,” the statement reads.

Summer is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano and her children Brooklyn, Amanda and Mimi.

Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines and dubbed as the “Queen of Disco,” Summer was known for her disco hits such as “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls” and “Love to Love You Baby.” She won 5 Grammy awards throughout her career and was the first recording artist who had three consecutive double albums topping the US Billboard chart.

An ancient reptile with a neck resembling to that of the Loch Ness Monster had also developed arthritis and eventually died to diseases of old age.

A team of researchers, who studied a fossil of a 150-million-year-old marine reptile called pliosaur, the ancient creature apparently suffered from arthritis-like disease in its jaw. The condition reportedly eroded the beast’s left jaw point.

“The most exciting aspect of this research for me is the arthritic condition, which has never been seen before in these or similar Mesozoic reptiles,” researcher Judyth Sassoon from the University of Bristol told LiveScience.

She added: “In the same way that aging humans develop arthritic hips, this old lady developed an arthritic jaw and survived with her disability for some time. But an unhealed fracture on the jaw indicates that at some time the jaw weakened and eventually broke. With a broken jaw, the pliosaur would not have been able to feed, and that final accident probably led to her demise.”

The findings of Sassoon’s group were published online Tuesday in the journal Palaeontology.

Among the show-stealers during the San Francisco auditions of “America’s Got Talent” was 21-year-old Alonzo Jones, a.k.a Turf.

Describing himself as an extreme contortionist dancer, Turf’s act consisted of moon dancing and some bone breaking body tricks, which amazed and gained a standing ovation from the audience and judge Howie Mandel.

“This is magic right now… This is a moment.” Mandel said, “You are a star, and your life is about to change.”

The 21-year-old has been homeless for 2 years and has been dancing on the streets.
